Biofeedback refers to interventions aimed at increasing a patient’s level of control in regards to their own physiology. High tech computer programs and instruments are utilized to facilitate a patient’s ability in controlling functions such as brainwaves, muscle tone, skin conductance, heart rate and pain perception. These methods are particularly useful with individuals presenting with anxiety, poor stress management, disinhibition, generalized or localized pain, and panic attacks.
